Today we bring you very good news. Yes, the kind that makes you smile and that we feel tremendously proud of. At La Mafia, we raised almost 7,000 euros in 2022 to donate to FESBAL (Spanish Federation of Food Banks), which translates to 25,000 meals.

25,000 meals, thanks to La Mafia
Twenty-five thousand meals to feed 8,445 people in one day or 1,206 for a week; we at La Mafia are more than happy. Our colleagues from Grupo La Mafia, Elena Corzán, responsible for CSR, and Sonia Pérez, responsible for marketing and communication, let Francisco Greciando Rodríguez, director of FESBAL, know about it at the aforementioned event we held in late January.
During the event, a check worth 6,967 euros was presented, equivalent to 6,334 kilograms of food for those most in need.
This action would not have been possible without our franchisees.
Thus, from the La Mafia franchises “Sienta a la Mesa” we managed to sell a total of 8,245 solidarity pizzas, our means of Corporate Social Responsibility, with which we achieved these magnificent figures for FESBAL.
A Solidarity Pizza after the Pandemic
As we told you in this article on Corporate Social Responsibility, after the pandemic, at La Mafia we wanted to bet on an RSC project linked to our business line: “”to feed”. To contribute to the feeding of those people who, due to lack of resources, cannot fulfill one of their most basic rights. And that’s how we came up with our solidarity pizza for FESBAL.
“Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.” Article 25.1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Thus, through our franchises, with the sale – either in La Mafia or take away – of our
Pizza Margherita di burrata, we donate 5% of its price to FESBAL.
Pelati bio tomatoes, mozzarella, burrata cheese, arugula and rested tomatoes; that’s how our solidarity pizza is made.
It should be noted that in 2022, the central bakery of Grupo La Mafia made a donation to the Food Bank of the Aragonese capital, the city where our headquarters are located and which is very close to the town of the bakery, San Mateo de Gállego. Thus, we offered this FESBAL headquarters 21,031.66€.

FESBAL, one of our most beloved collaborations
According to their own website, FESBAL is “a non-political and non-denominational entity”, whose main objective is to fight against hunger, poverty and food waste in Spain, through its use and distribution to help those who need it most and contribute to the environment.
This association appeared in 1995, and today is made up of 54 Spanish food banks. It is also part of the European Federation of Food Banks (FEBA).
Other CSR actions
But in addition to FESBAL, our commitment to a fairer and more supportive world is present in other social actions. Currently, we work with the MyHome orphanage, where we collaborate for a better quality of life for children in Nepal; in addition to making a monthly donation to Aldeas Infantiles, another NGO linked to children’s rights.
At La Mafia, we also collaborate with the Alberto Contador Foundation, as well as participating in other projects related to sports and the environment.
